The Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA) came into force on 15 April 2014. Thaya was awarded a Certificate in Adjudication by the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) after the inaugural Adjudication Training Programme of 2012/2013. Thaya is a Fellow of the Dispute Board Federation Geneva and a Fellow of the Malaysian Society of Adjudicators.
Thaya is on the panel of adjudicators of the KLRCA and was appointed in the fifteenth adjudication conducted pursuant to CIPAA. He now regularly sits as an adjudicator.
Apart from statutory adjudication, Thaya is also on the expert panel of the Dispute Board Federation Geneva. Thaya supports the use of dispute adjudication boards established by contract. Thaya was involved in the establishment of an international dispute adjudication board for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit, which at USD 16 billion, was the largest project by value undertaken in Malaysia at the time.
Thaya is a Tutor for the KLRCA Adjudication Training Programme and CIPAA Practical Course. Thaya lectures on adjudication at Brickfields Asia College, Kuala Lumpur. Thaya is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Consultative Task Force on the Revision of the Dispute Board Rules.
